POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for developing, managing and coordinating educational plans (both short and long term) and create and maintain educational programming that reflects the collections, exhibitions, and the history of the historic site and community. Work is performed under the supervision of the Historic Site Coordinator.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and research exhibitions and develop interpretive materials for resource information, school programs, teacher and docent training.
Develop and implement outreach to schools.
Establish and maintain resources for schools and other educational organizations in the community.
Develop educational programming for the historic site including such things as lecture series, etc.
Coordinates all programming with Curator (future position) Assistant Director/Director of Programming (future position).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
3 years’ experience in museum education. Good written and oral skills. Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Art History or related field (Masters Preferred).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS
Possession of a valid State of Georgia driver’s license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Good knowledge of historic preservation and nineteenth century architecture.
Good knowledge of historic site, city, state and the South.
Must be able to communicate effectively.
Requires a high degree of interpersonal skills; individual must be personable and diplomatic in working with diverse constituency.
Ability to work well with staff, volunteers and the general public.
