The City of Roswell is looking for a Part-Time Docent to serve as liaison between the public and Smith Plantation by providing information, conducting tours, answering phones, and participating in special programs and activities. They accurately interpret the house always maintaining an attitude of respect for all visitors.
Docents attend training and study the docent manual and supplemental primary resources. Docents conduct tours in a pleasant and professional manner. Docents must have a love of history and have the ability to engage large and small crowds with ease. Must be able to stand, climb stairs, speak loudly and clearly, and answer questions honestly.
Some college with history related majors preferred.
One or more years of experience giving tours and public speaking.
Hourly rate: $10 / hour working 9:30 – 4:30 on Friday.
