Part-time Equipment Operator - Recycle Center - Z025PT

 The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

The Part-Time Equipment Operator at the recycling center will work, 90% of time, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  On occasion, a schedule could be necessary due to circumstances at the recycling center requiring such a change.  These occasions should be rare and few.

The main responsibilities of this part-time position will be driving the box truck and collecting recycling at the Roswell public and private schools as well as at City of Roswell facilities.  The schedule for collection will be decided by the center Supervisor and/or the Warehouse Crew Leader.  This position will also be operating the other equipment at the center when not collecting recycling.  Other equipment includes, but is not limited to, a forklift, skid steer, baler, shredder, etc.

Performs smaller, routine maintenance, upkeep or construction projects of short duration independently as assigned: sets-up work-site; identifies problem and determines the appropriate repair; obtains necessary tools, equipment, and materials to complete project; initiates and completes the project; completes work orders and required paperwork; and reports completion of the project to the Crew Leader or Supervisor.

Maneuvers equipment and operates associated mechanisms in order to advance construction and maintenance projects: drives vehicles over public roads, work sites, rights-of-way, parks, public works facilities, and other City property; maneuvers in and around traffic, parked cars, equipment, utilities, and other obstacles; obeys all traffic laws and safety guidelines; monitors immediate

Ideal candidates will meet the general qualifications of an Equipment Operator II and be able to work the indicated schedule.  A familiarity with Roswell is a plus.  

The purpose of this classification is to perform semi-skilled to skilled tasks, including the operation of equipment and vehicles, to complete projects related to the maintenance, upkeep, installation, and construction of City streets, utilities, rights-of-way, parks, and other infrastructure for departmental operations. Employees in this classification may not function as the primary operator of equipment, and typically function under the guidance of a skilled operator or supervisor.
